History
Current Senior Instructor, Eddie Malinowski, formed Morriston FreeStyle Karate club in 1981. The club first trained at the Morriston Working Man's club before moving to Pentrepoth school, the Sacred Heart Community centre and finally Morriston Leisure Centre in 1986, its present venue.

The club trains on :- Mondays         5.0pm to 6.30pm
                                Wednesdays   5.30pm to 9.0pm

Style taught
Freestyle Karate originated in the USA (to which the club has close ties) and is a mixture of techniques from various traditional martial arts, being taught in English but following a structured grading syllabus.

Achievements
The clubs greatest achievement is that over the past 20 years it has produced over 40 Dan grades (black belts), the majority of which have represented Wales at international level in either the traditional or sport karate formats. Students of the club have held numerous titles at local, national and international level and competed in France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia, Canada and the USA as well as all over the UK.

Affiliations
The Morriston Freestyle Karate club is affiliated to the Multi Free Style Karate Association of which it was the founder member, is in membership of the Welsh Karate Federation (the governing body for karate in Wales), is recognised by the Sports Council for Wales and is listed in Swansea City Councils sports.

Membership
The club has approximately 60 training members ranging in age from 6 yrs - 50 yrs plus, and an active social membership supporting the club.

Tournaments
As well as traveling to tournaments at home and overseas the club also hosts three tournaments locally as Morriston Leisure Centre.

January:-    Under 18 yrs Junior Open Tournament
April:-         Open Tournament, which has grown over the past 5 years to the largest sport karate tournament in Wales.
November:- Closed Association Championships.

Aims
To increase membership of the club and to give students from the locality the opportunity to realise and achieve their goals in the martrial arts. To continue the reputation of the club as one of Wales premier sport karate clubs, to enhance the clubs reputation as a local club with an International reputation.
